Overview

The customer deduplication process is fully automated and runs in the backend - there is nothing you need to do. Here are some key details:

  • Customer profiles are automatically merged based on matching criteria

  • Endear automatically runs checks every few hours to identify and fix duplicates

  • Temporary duplicates in your customer list are normal and will resolve

If you need to merge a customer profile immediately, you can use this manual method. You can also use this method to merge customers who may not be recognized by our system as duplicates, but you have confirmed it is a duplicate.

How Automatic Customer Merging Works

The system automatically merges customer profiles when:

Email addresses match

  • Exact email address matches trigger automatic profile merging

  • This is the primary method for identifying duplicate customers

Phone numbers match AND names are 80% similar

  • When phone numbers are identical and customer names are at least 80% similar

  • This catches duplicates where customers use different email addresses

Timing and Process

The deduplication process runs every few hours - this means:

  • New duplicate customers won't merge immediately, so you may temporarily see duplicate profiles in your customer audience

  • All duplicates will automatically resolve within a few hours

  • No manual action is required on your part

What Happens During a Merge

When customer profiles are automatically merged:

  • All customer data is consolidated into a single profile

  • Purchase history and interactions are preserved

  • The system selects the most complete profile as the primary record
