Overview
Endear integrates with Shopify POS through a Send a message tile that lets staff send emails and SMS messages to customers without leaving the POS interface.
A Shopify admin must add the tile to the POS layout once per location β individual staff members then complete a one-time account linking step before they can use it.
Once linked, staff can send messages to any customer, search for recipients, or add a contact on the fly directly from the tile.
Messages sent through the tile are tracked in Endear and attributed at the message level, just like messages sent from the web or mobile app.
Step-by-step guide
Admin setup
1. Open your Shopify POS app and select the Add tile tile from the POS home screen.
2. From the Add tile menu, select App.
3. Select Endear CRM and Clienteling from the list of available apps.
4. On the Endear CRM and Clienteling page, make sure the App extension tab is selected. You will see one tile listed: Send a message (POS UI extension). Select Add.
5. Once the tile has been added, it will be visible to all staff at that location. Each staff member will need to complete a one-time account linking step the first time they use the tile (see below for instructions).
Account linking (one-time per staff member)
From the Shopify POS home screen, select the Send a message Endear tile.
2. The first time you do this, you will see a screen prompting you to "Connect your Shopify profile to your Endear profile". Select Continue.
3. Search for your name in the list of Endear staff accounts for your brand, toggle yourself on, and select Confirm to complete the link. If your POS location has not yet been connected to an Endear team, you will also be prompted to link the location to the correct team. Both connections are required in order to send messages this way.
Sending a message
1. When sending a message from the Shopify POS tile, Endear automatically identifies you based on whoever is currently logged into Shopify POS, and your name is displayed at the top of the message to confirm. When a different staff member logs into the POS, the tile will automatically reflect their linked Endear account.
2. Select Choose a recipient under the To field. Search for a customer by name, email address, or phone. You can select multiple recipients using the toggle by their name. You can also add a new recipient from this screen if the customer does not exist yet. Then hit Enter on your keypad once all recipients are selected, then select Confirm.
3. Select Choose a contact method under the From field. Toggle on the method you want to use and select Confirm to use it once, or Confirm & set as default to save it as your preferred contact method going forward.
4. Type your message in the Message field, making sure to provide all required fields. Once your message is ready, select Send. A success screen will appear confirming your message has been sent. Select Send another message to send a new message with a cleared form, or select Close to exit the tile.
Messaging from a customer profile in Shopify POS
When you have a customer selected in Shopify POS β from an order, customer profile, or cart, you can swipe up on action menu card at the bottom of your screen. This will expand to show additional actions. From that expanded menu, you will also see Send email and Send SMS tiles that automatically prefill that customer's contact information.

Troubleshooting
I don't see the Endear tile on my POS screen.
Ask your Shopify admin to confirm the tile has been added to your POS location's layout. The tile only needs to be added once per location.
I'm getting an error when linking my account. Make sure your Endear profile exists and is set up with the correct email. Contact your Endear admin to verify your profile exists and that your POS location is mapped to the right Endear team.
The tile is showing a different staff member's name. The tile reflects whoever is currently logged into the POS. Staff should log in and out at the POS level to ensure the correct Endear account is active.
The tile is asking for updated permissions. Shopify may occasionally prompt for updated app permissions. Follow the on-screen prompts to grant the required permissions, then try again.
