Overview
When you register a device as PIN-enabled, you empower your your store associates to login via a 6 digit numerical pin code instead of a password - similar to how many people login to a POS system. For shared devices like a store iPad or a POS system, registering the device is a great way to let staff members quickly switch between accounts - perfect for busy days on the floor.
Use this guide to register a device you have access to (e.g., you are an admin and you're onsite for a new store). If you need to a register a device remotely, follow this guide on how to use activation codes.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. On the device you want to register, open Endear and sign in as an admin or manager.
2. Navigate to Settings → PIN-Enabled Devices.
3. From the top right-hand corner, select + Register This Device.
4. Give the device a name and confirm. The device will now appear in your PIN-Enabled Devices list as Active, and any team member with a PIN can now sign in using their PIN.
If you need to register a device you're not physically using or at a location you're not at (i.e., a new store opened up in a different state), you can register devices remotely using activation codes.
Understanding the PIN-Enabled Devices list
The list shows every device that's been registered for your brand. Each row includes:
Device name — the name you set when registering.
Status — typically Active or Disabled.
Device type — for example, iPad, Windows desktop, Android phone.
Date registered — when the device was added.
Active teams — teams whose members have signed in on this device with their PIN (when available).
The list is sorted by registration date with the newest registrations first. If the current device is registered, it's marked with a This device indicator. Use the various filters to manage devices across your fleet.
