Note: PIN-enabled devices & PIN code login is launching on June 23rd, 2026. Until then, the legacy PIN experience is active. Learn more here.

Overview

If you would like to disable PIN logins on a PIN-enabled device, you can revoke a device's registration. Disabling PIN login means that users cannot login using PIN codes. Users who need to access Endear on it can still log in with a password.

  • Admins can disable PIN login on any registered device.

  • A confirmation modal warns you how many team members will be affected before you confirm.

  • After disabling, the device is marked Disabled, PIN logins are blocked, and users currently signed in are signed out on their next action.

  • A disabled device can be re-enabled for PIN logins.

When to disable PIN login on a device

Common scenarios:

  • A store iPad or computer has been lost or stolen.

  • A store team got a new device and you want to clean up the old entry.

  • A team has been reorganized and the device will no longer have anyone using PIN login.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Go to Settings → PIN-Enabled Devices, then select the device you want to disable.

2. From the device details page, select Disable PIN Login.

3. Review the confirmation modal. A modal appears with:

  • A summary of what you're about to do.

  • A warning banner showing how many team members will be affected. These are the users who have signed in on this device with their PIN.

Take a moment to make sure you really want to do this. Select Yes, disable PIN Login to confirm.

After disabling:

  • The device's status changes to Disabled and the row appears in a muted style.

  • The Edit action on the device name is no longer available.

  • The device remains in your PIN-Enabled Devices list as a record.

What happens to users on a disabled device

  • Users on the device are signed out on their next action (or at the next automatic logout).

  • They can no longer sign in with their PIN on this device.

  • They can still sign in with their password, SSO, or another login method — disabling PIN login only blocks PIN authentication. It doesn't disable their Endear account.

  • On a different PIN-enabled device, their PIN still works normally.

Can I re-enable PIN login on a disabled device?

Yes. You can re-enable PIN login on a disabled device by going to the device detail's page, select Re-enable PIN Login.

When the confirmation modal, and select Yes, enable PIN login.

After re-enabling:

  • The device's status changes back to Active.

  • The Edit action on the device name is available.

  • Users can login on that device via PIN.
