Endear lets your staff members log in and switch accounts with a 6-digit numerical PIN code instead of a username and password. It's built for shared, in-store devices — the desktop or tablet on your sales floor — so staff members can switch in and out of their own accounts in seconds.
Fun fact: PIN login came from a customer request because it mirrors the way associates log into your POS system.
How does it work?
PIN login runs on a PIN-enabled device — a shared device (store desktop or tablet) that has been registered for PIN login. Once a device is PIN-enabled, anyone on the team can log in directly with their PIN. A manager no longer needs to be logged in first.
On a PIN-enabled device:
1. The device shows the login screen with the option to sign-in using pin.
2. A staff member inputs their username, enters their PIN, and they're in.
3. To switch users, the next staff member just picks their own name, then Switch Accounts. The new staff member enters their PIN and they're in — fast account switching, built for the floor.
4. For security, Endear automatically logs you out after 10 minutes of inactivity, when you navigate away from the app, or when the device sleeps or locks.
What's a PIN-enabled device, and how do I set one up?
A PIN-enabled device is a shared device that's been registered for PIN login. Devices can be registered by an on-site manager or admin. Devices can also be registered remotely by an admin sharing an activation code, which can be input on a device by any team member.
Note: If your store was using PIN login before the June 2026 update, your existing shared devices were automatically migrated to PIN-enabled devices — there's nothing you need to do, and staff members simply enjoy a better pin login experience.
Who can use PIN code login?
PIN code login is available for the User role. Managers and Admins must log in with a password.
Can I use PIN code login on my own personal device?
PIN login is designed for shared store devices and account switching via PIN only works on PIN-enabled devices. If you need Endear on your own device, it is recommended to sign in with an email/username and password or with SSO.
