How do I setup WhatsApp?

Learn how to setup WhatsApp as a contact method for your brand.

Overview

Connect your WhatsApp Business Account

Note: Before you get started, make sure to turn off any ad blockers. Not doing so may cause issues during setup.

  1. Navigate to Settings, then select Contact Methods

  2. Select Add Contact Method

  3. Select Setup WhatsApp

  4. Login via your brand's corporate Facebook and complete the onboarding flow

    1. NOTE: WhatsApp with Endear is currently designed for one business account, so it should be your brand's corporate Meta account rather than any individual store's registration. This will ensure you can enable WhatsApp for any future stores that may need the feature.

  5. Verify your Meta Business account.

Enable WhatsApp phone numbers

  1. Once your business account is verified, you can enable WhatsApp phone numbers. Select +Add phone number

  2. Select the type of phone number(s) you want to use with Endear either an existing Endear number or bringing your own number for WhatsApp.

  3. If you select an existing Endear number, then choose phone numbers to enable with WhatsApp.

  4. If you wish to bring your own number, you will connect your phone number to Endear.

    1. IMPORTANT: You must connect to the same WhatsApp business account that you connected in the previous step

  5. Complete your WhatsApp sender profiles by deciding who should have access to send messages from this number and review the internal name. Input the display name, address, and website URL. Select Save.

    1. NOTE: The display name, address, and website URL will be visible to the customer.

Step-by-Step Guide

Connect your WhatsApp Business Account

1. Navigate to Settings, then select Contact Methods

2. Select Add Contact Method

3. Select Setup WhatsApp. If you don't see WhatsApp as an option here, reach out to your account manager so they can add it to your plan.

4. You will be taken to a WhatsApp setup checklist that provides an overview of the installation process. You can return to this checklist at anytime by following the same path: Settings > Contact Methods > Add Contact Method > Setup WhatsApp.

Important: WhatsApp with Endear is currently designed for one business account, so it should be your brand's corporate Meta account rather than any individual store's registration. This will ensure you can enable WhatsApp for any future stores that may need the feature.

5. Login to your Meta Business account.

Note: The screenshot below is for demonstrative purposes, but make sure you do not login to your personal Facebook account. WhatsApp requires linking your Meta Business account.

6. You should see your Meta Business account and/or be prompted to verify your Meta Business account.

7. Next, you may choose an existing business portfolio or create a new one. Keep in mind that you can only have a single portfolio for a single brand or entity.

8. Next, you may choose an existing WhatsApp Business account or create a new one to use with Endear (recommended). You can have multiple WhatsApp Business accounts under the same brand.

Enable WhatsApp phone numbers

1. Once your business account is verified, you can enable WhatsApp phone numbers. Select +Add phone number.

2. Select the type of phone number(s) you want to use with Endear either an existing Endear number or bringing your own number for WhatsApp.

a. If you select an existing Endear number, then choose phone numbers to enable with WhatsApp.

b. If you wish to bring your own number, you will connect your phone number to Endear. Log in with Facebook and complete the authentication process.

4. Complete your WhatsApp sender profiles by deciding who should have access to send messages from this number and review the internal name. Input the display name, address, and website URL. Select Save.

NOTE: The display name, address, and website URL will be visible to the customer. See below for an example.
