How to reschedule an appointment by dragging on the calendar

Move an appointment to a new time or date, reassign it to another staff member, or change its length by dragging it on the calendar.

Applies to: All

The fastest way to move an appointment is to drag it. Dragging works in day, week, and month view, and it can change the time, the date, the assigned staff member, and the length of an appointment without opening anything.

Overview

  1. Drag an appointment to a new slot to change its time or date.

  2. Drag it into another staff member's column in day view to reassign it.

  3. Drag its bottom edge to change how long it lasts.

  4. Select Notify customer or Undo in the confirmation message that follows.

Drops are applied immediately. There is no confirmation step and nothing to save afterwards — the confirmation message is your chance to undo.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Select Appointments from the left-hand navigation and find the appointment you want to move.

2. Drag the appointment card to its new slot. The original position stays visible as a faded outline while you drag, so you can see where it came from.

3. Release. The appointment snaps to the nearest 15 minutes and its side panel opens showing the new details. Dropping it back on the same slot changes nothing.

4. A confirmation message appears with two actions: Notify customer and Undo. Moving an appointment does not email the customer on its own, so select Notify customer if they need to know, or Undo to put the appointment back exactly where it was. Once the message disappears the new time is saved but no notification has gone out, so send one another way if you missed it.

Dragging in month view

In month view, appointments appear as small pills. Dragging a pill into another day cell changes its date and keeps its time. You can drag across weeks and into another month.

Good to know

  • You can drop an appointment into a slot that already has something in it, or into blocked time. Endear flags the clash as a scheduling conflict rather than stopping you — see the article on reviewing and resolving scheduling conflicts.

  • Dragging is switched off while you have unsaved changes open in the side panel. See the article on editing an appointment from the calendar.

  • Blocked time cannot be dragged. Open it and edit its times instead.

  • Dragging is not available in list view.

  • On a phone or tablet, press and hold an appointment to start dragging it.
