How to set an internal store name for a team

Give a team a staff-only name, like a store code, that appears across Endear internally but is never shown to customers.

Applies to: Admins

Teams in Endear can have two names. The Display name is what customers see. The Internal store name is optional and is only ever seen by your staff.

This is useful when the name customers know a store by is different from the code or shorthand your staff use day to day. For example, customers may know a location as Brooklyn, while staff refer to it as 110456. Setting an internal store name lets both names exist at once, without exposing the store code to customers.

Setting an internal store name is optional. If a team does not have one, nothing changes: the display name is used everywhere, exactly as before.

Overview

  1. From the home page, under the Teams header select to Settings and select Teams.

  2. Select the team you want to edit, or select Create team to set the name on a new team.

  3. Enter a name in the Internal store name field.

  4. Select Save.

Step-by-step guide

1. If you are logged into the team you want to edit, select Settings from underneath the team name on the home page. Otherwise, select Settings from the left navigation, and then select Teams to see a list of every team in your brand. Then select your desired team.

2. To edit or set an internal store name on a brand new team instead, select Edit.

3. Enter the name your staff use for this location in the Internal store name field. This can be a store code, a number, or any shorthand your staff recognize. Leave the field blank if you want the team to keep using its display name everywhere. Select Save. The internal store name takes effect immediately across the app.

Where the internal store name appears

Once set, the internal store name is used in the places where your staff work with teams, including:

  • The team detail page in Settings

  • The Teams list in Settings

  • Team selectors elsewhere in Endear, such as when you save an audience

  • The Team assignments section of a staff member's profile

  • Exports that include team information

Where customers see the display name

The internal store name is never customer-facing. Anywhere a customer could see the name, Endear uses the display name instead. This includes:

  • The team name merge field in messages

  • Appointment booking links

Using the example above, a message built with the team name merge field sends as Brooklyn, not 110456 Brooklyn.
