Overview of Sending Endear Messaging Events to Klaviyo

Automatically sync your Endear messages to Klaviyo for unified customer tracking and improved marketing coordination.

Overview

When the Klaviyo integration's message status egress is active, all outbound messages sent from Endear automatically appear on the customer's timeline in Klaviyo in real time. This includes both 1-on-1 personalized outreach (conversational messages) sent by staff and bulk campaign messages, across email, SMS, and WhatsApp.

What gets exported

The following outbound messages sync to Klaviyo:

  • All channels: SMS, email, and WhatsApp messages sent from Endear

  • 1-on-1 and campaigns: Both personal conversational messages and bulk campaign messages

  • Message status events: Sent, delivered, and failed states for each message

  • Customer profile links: Recipients are automatically matched across both platforms

The following are not exported:

  • Inbound messages received from customers

  • Live Chat communications

  • Messages in pre-delivery states (such as created, expired, or awaiting opt-in)

How events appear in Klaviyo

Rather than a single generic event, Endear maps messages to custom metrics in Klaviyo based on the channel and delivery status:

  • Email: Sent Email in Endear, Delivered Email in Endear, Failed to Send Email in Endear

  • SMS: Sent SMS in Endear, Delivered SMS in Endear, Failed to Deliver SMS in Endear

  • WhatsApp: Sent WhatsApp in Endear, Delivered WhatsApp in Endear, Failed to Send WhatsApp in Endear

Each event includes the customer's matched email or phone number, the timestamp of the status change, and the Endear message identifier used to prevent duplicates.

Common use cases and benefits

  • Message suppression: Create a Klaviyo segment excluding customers who received an Endear message in the last 7 days to avoid over-communication.

  • Re-engagement flows: Set up automated Klaviyo follow-ups triggered when Endear messages go unanswered.

  • Performance analysis: Compare conversion rates between automated Klaviyo campaigns and personalized Endear messages.

  • Cross-team visibility: Allow your marketing team to view staff outreach activity without accessing Endear directly.

  • Delivery monitoring: Track which messages successfully reached customers to inform follow-up strategies.

  • Campaign coordination: Ensure marketing and sales teams aren't contacting the same customers simultaneously.

Important details

  • This integration works across all Endear communication channels: SMS, email, and WhatsApp.

  • Message status egress is only available for Klaviyo integrations connected via OAuth. If a brand is still using a legacy Klaviyo integration connected via private API keys, this feature is inactive. Updating the integration to OAuth in Endear's settings enables the message status stream.

  • Historical messages sent before enabling this feature will not be exported to Klaviyo.

  • Customer matching uses email addresses or phone numbers depending on the message channel.

    • Note: If there is no matching customer, Klaviyo will automatically create a customer profile when Endear sends a messaging event. Be aware this may impact your Klaviyo profile count and potentially affect billing based on your Klaviyo pricing tier.
