Overview

Endear supports phone numbers from any country for account sign-up, verification, and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Previously, only US and Canadian phone numbers (+1) were accepted. Now, staff members can use international phone numbers with automatic verification routing:

  • US and Canadian phone numbers (+1) receive verification codes via SMS.

  • All other international phone numbers receive verification codes via WhatsApp.

  • MFA enrollment options (SMS, WhatsApp, Authenticator) are available regardless of phone number region.

  • Phone number input fields across the platform allow selection of any country code.

How verification works

When you sign up, reset your password, or enroll in MFA, Endear automatically determines how to send your verification code based on your phone number's country code. If your number begins with +1 (US or Canada), you will receive a verification code via SMS. If your number uses any other country code, you will receive the verification code via WhatsApp. This routing is automatic and cannot be changed manually.

Important: If you are using a non-US phone number, you must have WhatsApp installed on your device to receive verification codes.

Important considerations

Verification delivery is automatic and based on your phone number's country code. You cannot manually choose between SMS and WhatsApp for receiving codes. International staff members must have WhatsApp installed and active on their device to receive verification messages. Existing staff members with US phone numbers are not affected by this change and will continue to receive SMS verification as before.
