How to set quiet hours for your team

Block 1:1 messages from being sent during set hours each day, so your team stays compliant with messaging regulations without relying on individual discretion.

Applies to: Admins

Overview

Quiet hours block your team from sending 1:1 messages during a window you set for each day of the week. If a staff member tries to send during quiet hours, Endear blocks the send and shows a warning with the allowed hours, for example: "The scheduled time is during quiet hours. Messages can only be sent between 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM EDT." They can schedule the message to send once quiet hours end instead.

Quiet hours apply to:

  • 1:1 messages sent immediately, across email, SMS, and WhatsApp

  • Scheduled messages, if the scheduled time falls inside quiet hours

  • Every member of the team, regardless of role

Quiet hours are set per team and evaluated in that team's time zone, so a brand with stores in multiple regions can give each team a schedule that matches local rules. Each day can have its own window, which is useful where regulations differ by day (for example, a later start on Sundays).

Step-by-step guide

1. Navigate to Settings and select Teams

2. Select the team you want to configure

3. Scroll to the Quiet hours section and select Edit

4. For each day, set the start and end time of the window during which messages are blocked

5. Save your changes

Repeat for each team that needs quiet hours.

Good to know

  • A window that ends at or before the time it starts runs overnight into the next day. For example, 9 PM – 8 AM blocks sending from 9 PM each evening until 8 AM the following morning.

  • Quiet hours do not apply to campaigns. Campaigns have their own send window, which you set in the campaign's settings under Only send messages between the hours of. Keep both configured if you want coverage across 1:1 and bulk messaging.
